Thanks to a p2p betting system, Betfair.com has the best odds for sports betting on the internet. Thanks to Bitcoin we offer the same system but are cutting back the fees from 2.5% to 1% of the betting sum.
Any INTP knows the odds are against them all the time and that is enough to deter them. But I've always been a gambler. In middle school I got a multigame mini pool table, table tennis, and Roulette wheel and card table. My friends would come over and gamble money or things. My friend's mom disapproved and made him give me some stuff back (haha). I just didn't know I had to rake games to be "the house." In middle school the black kids taught white kids craps and we'd shoot for dollars. I still love a good dice game. We'd have them on payday after close a couple jobs ago. The shit talking is so much better than poker games. In HS I gambled poker and chess a lot. My favorite poker game was played where everyone had 2.25g of shrooms in them. No poker faces and it didn't last that long. Not great at poker. I've gambled on Chess pretty successfully. Not great at Spades. But I'm an INTP and Casinos aren't my thing. Rather gamble at pool at a dive bar. That said I'm doing a lot of sports betting right now. I once read that a professional sports gambler only wins 55% of the time but they have advanced knowledge in props, parlays, hedging etc. I just figured at college and to a lesser extent pro football, I could pick the winner above 55% maybe even against against--the-spread. My favorite former gf was good at betting on the ponies because she was into horses and leased one, so she had similar inside knowledge as someone who's watched football for 25yrs I put $150 deposit and got $165 because they passed some BTC savings onto me. First week I bet the full $165. I remember the bets too. $45 on Duke (Lost but beat the spread) Same with the $45 I put on S. Alabama. $45 on Coastal Carolina who won outright against Kansas $45. Because the house rakes the games I'd only win about $40 off each so that's $270. But I put a $30 parlay on all three winning and won $180. Turned $165 into $360 (not exact--change and some numbers were rounded). I qualified for a bonus $165 for betting everything. That's a cool $425. I thought "Holy Shit I can just go pro" beginners luck. It was also right after I lost my job and I'm moving for a new one mid October. Back to my home city and old neighborhood. Pretty psyched really except moving is a hassle. Two weeks ago lost $70. I thought that comes with the territory of a pro sports better. I broke even last week. This week I chose a new strategy and bet on 7 games instead of 3. Truth was I don't know a certain percentage. I know games I "know" but I only lost $60. It just feels worse because I went 1-6 instead of two weeks ago when I went 1-2. Plus I lose some change on the low probability parlays. The problem is that I just dipped into my other $165 to bet on pro football. Put in a couple bets and a parlay. The winnings get transferred into my main account. I'm still up either $80 in my account (I can't cash in the "free money") My floor is $200 because I wanna make at least $50 off this fun lil exercise but I see how addictive it is for the first time. I even sought out a Bitcoin chess gambling site mainly used by Africans but I don't play because either I'm not better at Chess than Nigerian Royalty or they use chess bots or both. It also was pretty obviously used for money laundering which is what the gambling sites are also used for. Now I'm betting on Sunday football. Not just Saturday. I guess my cashout ceiling is a grand but I don't see that happening haha. Point is that wk2 college football this year was like my first joint, the first time I mixed valium-codeine-and a belt of scotch at 14. The first time I painted something halfway decent under a bridge at 16. The first time I fucked a girl at 17. The first time I had an audience in stitches at 22 (standup). All very pleasurable and only relatively routinely done. Except maybe sex and drugs but they have other major downsides. Hell when I learned to read at 8 I was attached to books my whole life but nobody thinks that's bad. Haha. Do other people gamble? I'm extraverted enough that if someone has dice on the street I'll shoot or if they have a chess game at a coffee shop. I'll bet $20. Best in person bet was with a frenemy in my group who was the epitome of iamverysmart and everyone in my group thought he was a genius. I took $20 off him in front of everyone and he refused to try to win it back. Bad look for him. I hope I can keep it just for fun. Any other INTP gamblers on here? Edit: Forgot to mention I won $400+ in a $20 pool for the 2011 March Madness B-Ball tourney. I watched none of the regular season (like usual) but knew UConn was good but nobody picked them as they were a #3 seed. I didn't win most rounds either. Dumb luck. It's funny that I forgot because it was less recent than that grudge match against that guy I played chess against.
Update on my crypto sports betting review / experience
A few months back I did a review of end-to-end crypto betting sites as I liked the idea of the privacy, deposit/withdrawal times, deposit/withdrawal limits, etc - that come with this. By trying a number of sites (seven) I found three I liked and have stuck with over the past four months - Nitrogen, SportX and Sportsbet.io I just wanted to give an update and quick comparison of each.
To compare odds, I chose a random MLB game that didn’t have any special action or promo, hence the Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies:
From my experience these odds were fairly typical, with SportX and Nitrogen having similar tight odds and Sportsbet having (almost offensively) wide spreads on their odds. It should be noted, that SportX has more inconsistent odds as they are an exchange. On popular games in major leagues they often have amazing odds that are tighter than any book, but if you are trying to find good odds on a less popular league or an obscure match their odds available are often in line with Sportsbet and worse than Nitrogen.
Interface + Live Betting
You might ask, if Sportsbet has bad odds why do you stick with them? Simple, they have an amazing and slick UI. The site is super easy to use and for some games they even show live stats & streams. While I do none of my pre-match betting on Sportsbet because of their shitty odds, I do almost all my in-play betting there. This is because Nitrogen has an outdated and clunky website and I find my live bets often being rejected with them. SportX doesn’t have in game betting which is a big loss, but their team in discord announced they expect to have in game sometime in November. SportX’s UI is clean and simple for an exchange. But they do not have any of the add ons like previews or in game stats that Sportsbet has.
Nitrogen: I used the site for a while but a small issue I had was betting in BTC, my mind doesn’t think in terms of BTC amounts yet. I often found myself using a calculator to figure out how much BTC I need to bet for a $100 bet, and I can say on one occasion and I did mess up and only bet $10. Besides the UI being clunky, I have no real issues with the site – they have good odds. Though I was always a little hesitant depositing large sums cause of their history of withdrawal complaints, whenever a withdrawal would take longer than 3-4 hours, I would get nervous. But luckily, I had no issues. To be honest I did go bust on the site after week 1 of NFL and am still considering if I will redeposit. SportX: I have enjoyed using SportX, being able to bet straight from my Metamask/Coinbase wallet is nice. I feel an added layer of comfort that each bet is paid out directly to MY wallet meaning I don’t have to deposit thousands of dollars with them. As the only money gone from my wallet is money in a bet. The coolest part of the site has been the betting competition and community. They seem to be trying to make sports betting a “sport” in itself. Their first profit/loss competition ended last week (I came mid table) and it has been a ton of fun seeing the rankings change every day and talking trash in their discord. In summary, the site is solid with great odds. But a big reason I plan on staying is the betting tournaments. Sportsbet: Sportsbet.io is like a nice car with a shitty engine. Everything looks really nice but the odds suck – but EVERY site has terrible in-game odds – so it is at least manageable there. Their slick UI, live stats and streams make them the best in-game betting site I have used. Only real negative experience on the site was when I was talking to a support agent in the chat and they asked for me to fill out KYC. I ignored it and have still been able to withdraw, but it was an unusual request in a support chat. Going to keep some money with them until a better live option comes along.
I thought I’d put together a quick list of the best online gambling sites for the Reddit community. Feel free to add to this list with any of the best ones that I might have missed. Let’s try and make this a go-to resource for anyone who fancies a flutter :) Here’s my list: Bovada - Easily the standout choice for sports betting in the U.S. Loads of lines offered, in-play betting available, plus casino and poker games. Great welcome bonus too and it’s a super reputable site. Ignition - Decent alternative to Bovada. I don’t personally use Ignition but I have a buddy who swears by it. Plus, the reviews on the likes of TrustPilot are highly favourable and it’s definitely a sportsbook you can trust. Best for poker. PlayOjo - Excellent slots site! Comprehensive selection, lots of specials and again a really reputable site that you can’t go wrong with Nitrogen Sports - Really good for sports betting but also has casino betting opportunities. Bitcoin accepted, I personally use it now and then for table games. Solid alternative to Bovada (though I use both because you can compare the odds) LeoVegas - This is both a sportsbook and a casino but I prefer to use it for its casino games. Lots of promos, huge amount of games, good payouts
Pros: Anonymous, Bitcoin, Fast deposit and withdrawals, minimal fuss. Cons: Clunky interface, less sports events than other places, worse odds. But the biggest thing is they really do pay you out. No documents to send, I was paid out within 15 minutes and I assume it is all a computer program with a que for payouts. If you dig anonymous, and you are a legitimate sports bettor, they are alright! Sure I have another go to book, but with Nitrogen the bet limits are known before hand, they make money from the extra bad odds so they can assure you of payouts if you are a winner rather than a loser, and it just feels like this book is more prepared to payout than other books. Other books pretend to be sportsbooks, but they will try to gip you of your money if they can, then limit you if they cant. They won't tolerate winning players. NItrogensports just feels like they are more prepared than other bookies to payout. I get similar feelings from sports exchanges where its player v player with commission, bookie doesn't care much about payouts, (like fairlay and matchbook) Nitrogen is the only non exchange site that gives me this transparent see through feeling like I am dealing with a bank, not a company that wants me to lose. Sure they expect there will be a lot of losers and that's factored in, but with the way their odds are, they take extra precaution so they don't have to gip winners as well. Not sure if you consider that good or bad, but as a bettor, I like that. I can still find good bets at Nitrogen. And the prearranged betting limits means they have already thought out things well regarding winning players. Many bookies simply won't tolerate winners, they are frauds, set up as bookie shops on the internet but not really prepared to play with the winners as well. Thus they offer super juicy odds then try to steal your money later or get you kicked off their platform. Some will limit you to $1 bets on your favorite games. Until the betting exchanges like Fairlay and Matchbook get the liquidity, Nitrogen is a go to book for simple winners. If you do complex stuff, it might not work at Nitrogen. Good luck, long live Nitrogen Sports
The online casino side of Bodog is supported by two separate software providers. While Real Time Gaming might not have the newest or shiniest games out there, it provides sufficient variation when it comes to all your favorite classics. Thanks to the use of RTG you get a wide choice of blackjack, baccarat, roulette, and video poker to keep you entertained. There are no live dealer games available at Bodog casino yet but there is a wide choice of everything else! However, the real stars at Bodog are the Betsoft games. They are perfectly rendered movie-like creations, but besides feasting your eyes on them, you can also win money from them. It is a pretty sweet deal! In addition, Bodog offers a bunch of player guides to lead you through the process of picking a game, learning how to play it, and even following the etiquette of online casinos! And if that is not enough, every game has its own 'How to play' section and a detailed description, so you can go in prepared! Some of the slots that you have to try out are Cleopatra's Gold, Caesar's Empire and Madder Scientist, to name but a few. It is important to note that Bodog does not cater to professional players, as can be seen in the amount of support and information they provide to their players, and the fact that the highest bets that one can make at one go do not go over C$500. This is a casino that caters specifically to recreational players, even giving them the facility to remain anonymous at the poker tables. >>Get Free Spins Now<< >>Get Free Spins Now<<
Bodog Poker Review
Online poker betting is a big feature of online gaming and Bodog offers a medium-sized poker room for fans of the game. While you can only play up to 15 tables simultaneously, that fits in with the ethos of the casino and its dedication to recreational players. When it comes to poker, Bodog also offers anonymous tables where no one know the others' online handle and everyone is given a number. In this way, the odds are evened out. This might not seem appealing to pro players but recreational players will find it a refreshing breath of air compared to other poker rooms. There is also a number of poker tournaments organized by Bodog poker room over the span of each year, which are a good place for more experienced players. The thing about playing poker on Bodog is that if you do it from your computer, you have to download the Bodog app. That does have its advantages, as having the Bodog app allows you to also access the whole range of Bodog casino games, so once downloaded, you can play both poker, and everything else, straight from your computer. Signing up for Bodog's poker room can also make you eligible for a bonus of up to C$1,000, so it is a good place to start if you are a new player just getting into poker.
Bodog Sports review
Bodog sports betting is one of the best sites to go to if you are into betting on sports and you live in Canada. Football, basketball, hockey are all to be expected in a sportsbook but Bodog also offers political bets, and even wagers on topics connected to Entertainment. For example, you can bet on who will win Big Brother Brazil or who will be the next Game of Thrones character to die in the series! This makes Bodog the right side for betting if you are looking for something less ordinary.
Bodog Mobile review
To play on Bodog from your mobile device, all you have to do is open up your browser and sign up for a Bodog online casino account. Since the latest overhaul of the website there is no software to download for mobile use, which is great news for Apple devices! This also makes the casino lighter and easier to use than many of its competitors. Basically, any mobile device capable of running html5 can be used to place bets on Bodog. So if you have an iPhone or an Android you will be able to access your Bodog account and play online poker or place bets on horse racing. If you prefer your iPad or your Toshiba tablet, you will do just fine with the Bodog mobile site. What if you don't own the latest iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy, or a Huawei P9? What if you are a Blackberry fan? Fear not, Bodog caters for you, too, with a mobile-optimized page that will open just right on your device screen! So even from your Blackberry, you can still partake in Bodog's mobile poker. >>Get Free Spins Now<<
Bodog does not offer a wide range of accepted banking methods, but it accepts some of the most popular ones, which makes up for the lack of variety. You can always use your Visa or Mastercard for deposits, even if they are anonymous prepaid cards. Another major payment method for Bodog online casino is the instant e-check and still another the Interac e-transfer, which allows you to use your online banking services to deposit. The top withdrawal method for Bodog is actually via check. Bodog issues up to one fee-free check a month for up to C$3,000. Recently, the casino also introduced Bitcoin and now they even offer a tutorial describing how to create an account and use Bitcoin for betting. This can be a good method if you prefer to remain anonymous.
Security and fair play
To begin with, Bodog is regulated in Antigua, one of the world's top gaming regulators. Your information is heavily encrypted by 128 bit SSL, and you can even play anonymously at the poker tables - a feature that is not present in any other large casinos. In terms of fairness, Bodog applies the latest randomizing technology which ensures that the games are completely random and unpredictable and you have the same shot at winning as anyone else. In addition, the casino does not make money from your losses but by raking the pot, so it is to everyone's advantage for you to keep winning! >>Get Free Spins Now<<
Promotions and customer support
Signing up to Bodog can earn you up to C$1,800 in bonuses if you follow the rules carefully. This is not a casino that will let you take home hundreds of thousands of dollars in winnings but it encourages its players to partake in all its different betting activities. To get the total of C$1,800 you need to bet at the bookmaking side of the website, the poker tables, and the slots, but even if you don't you will still get some bonuses for every part of the website you partake in. For example, signing up for the Bodog online casino can get you up to C$600 if you follow the conditions!
Bodog has two separate loyalty programs. One is a point system directly linked to the amount of cash you bet on slots, casino games or blackjack. For example, for every C$10 you bet on slots, you get 2 points. And every 100 points give you a dollar in cash that you can then bet again. The second program is the 94 Club, which is the VIP club for loyal members. It offers you extra rewards, bonuses, promotions and even events to exotic locations for being a member. You can get weekly bonuses and various giveaways as a member of the club. >>Get Free Spins Now<<
As mentioned, this is not a casino for pros, so the highest jackpots currently up for grabs in the slots section do not surpass 10K. Most of the jackpots won recently are below 50K, so this is not a place to go if you like the thrill of fighting for millions. However, as the website's Big Winners section shows, there are big winners in Bodog every day, so the odds of winning are larger than usual.
Bodog online casino offers 24/7 customer care support in both email and phone format. The site is in English, Portuguese and Spanish and there are also multiple detailed tutorials that can guide you through standard processes, game rules and even online casino etiquette. So whatever you need, you will definitely find it somewhere through the site or the helpful customer support staff.
Bodog review in 2020: Conclusion
The Bodog website is a big place which offers a number of different types of gambling. It uses two types of game software, which makes its games more interesting and diverse, and it has strong customer support all around the clock. It accepts a sufficient number of payment methods, including Bitcoin, which is gaining popularity rapidly and offers some strong welcome bonuses to start you off. It is only open to Canadian players, works in Canadian dollars, and it does not accept professional players but that means that if you are a Canadian beginner or a recreational player, this casino is made especially for you. And whether you are into horse betting, sports betting, casino or poker, Bodog will offer you the best service and betting options on the market. >>Get Free Spins Now<<

For Trading JULY 28th DKNG FALTERS “NEW ALL-TIME HIGH FOR GOLD” BITCOIN RALLIES Today’s market got off to a mixed start NASDAQ higher and a somewhat subdued start for the DJIA and S&P-500, but the others caught up quickly and all rallied into the close with the DJIA +114.88 (.43%), NASDAQ +173.09 (1.67%), S&P 500 +23.78 (.74%), the Russell +17.10 (1.17%) and the DJ Transports +87.30 (.90%). Market internals continued positive with both NYSE and NASDAQ 1.5:1 higher although volume was down. DJIA was 17 up and 13 down with no major movers but AAPL adding 60 DP’s and BA losing 25. Durable goods gained 7.3% vs. 6.4 expected and that gave the market some solid underpinnings. Commodities were all higher as the U.S. Dollar continues to fall. While I think that we may get a reflex rally shortly, commodities are still cheaper than stocks. Our “open forum” on Discord, which allows me to interact with subscribers and others to allow direct questions and chart opinions on just about any stock, continues to grow with more participants every day. It is informative and allows me to share insights as the market is open and moving. The link is: https://discord.gg/ATvC7YZ and I will be there and active from before the open and all day. It’s a great place to share ideas and gain some insights, and we’ve grown to almost 3000 members. I also did this video over the weekend on a day-trade, (actually 2) that I made in AAPL on Friday. I think it’s highly informative as a guide to under what conditions these kind of trades in expiring options make sense. The link is https://youtu.be/qIV0G-hP3aM Enjoy!! Tonight’s closing comment video https://youtu.be/FDZWwDnw7qM SECTORS: DraftKings (DKNG) really took it on the chin today as several baseball teams had players that tested positive for COVID-19. This had a snowball effect and caused a total of 5 teams cancelling games and putting into question the viability of continuing sports available for betting. The NFL is also at odds with the NFL Players association over several issues and that would clearly put into question of whether there will be a season for them also. After the deal with the SPAC to bring the company public the stock had a steady rise from the $12.00 level to a high of $44.79, a decline and a pullback and an attempt to move higher that resulted in a lower high (43.75 in June), and another decline back to 27.54 in July and another lower high of 38.84 last week and the possible start of a new decline. While the stock is a favorite of bettors without sports to bet on and the legions of new RobinHood investors, it is still an “unseasoned security” and is subject to erratic swings. It would not surprise me if baseball ends in the short term to see this one back at $24- $25. On the rise today, TSM up 12.7% on speculation that the INTC news of problems with their new chips would cause them to purchase chips from TSM. After close of $67.37 on Thursday, TSM closed up at 73.90 Friday and gapped up today to finish $83.25 +9.35 (12.7%) and is now $84.88 in after hours. You made it! :) First up, SORRY! This has been a late post, I have my reasons don't question them (if you must know I'll be posting in the discord - one time only haha). Secondly, I am sure you can agree with me when I say "Wow!" What an incredible week it has been. Last week I thought it was going to take a couple more weeks for more moving price action when it had only taken a few days which has seen Bitcoin reach and pass the $10,000 region. We have also seen the total Market cap for cryptocurrencies increase from about 280B to over 300B (308B at time of writing) within just a few days. A huge injection of liquidity, about 40B, into the market and just to name a few of the best rises in the top 20 (on Coinmarketcap.com), the price of ETH BTC ADA have given good performances/positive responses (With this I will start adding screenshots at the end of each week for timestamp purposes). This may be a combination from Binance, Mastercard, Paypal, Grayscale investments, VISA AND the DEFI sector. Let me explain... Last week we read about Binance integrating with the company Swipe (SXP) to issue there own debit card expanding the use and reach of cryptocurrency to 31 countries within Europe. Binance's Q2 scheduled token burn of $60.5 Million, this figure correlates with its exchange, margin and futures trading platforms where approximately 20% of profits get burned to increase the price of BNB token (careful as the price has been steady after the burn). This week we find out Mastercard's expansion into the Cryptosphere as they expand and integrate with the Wirex team to issue a Mastercard-backed Bitcoin debit card, thus further extending the reach of cryptocurrency availability internationally. "The cryptocurrency market continues to mature and Mastercard is driving it forward, creating safe and secure experiences for consumers and businesses in today’s digital economy " "...Our work with Wirex and the wider crypto ecosystem is accelerating innovation and empowering consumers with more choice in the way they pay" Mastercard is also reaching out to other emerging cryptocurrency firms to apply to become principal members [Partners] with Mastercard as they have relaxed their digital assets program and look to expand into the Digital Assets and Blockchain environment. Paypals expression of interest in cryptocurrency facilitiation may bear fruits as it is said Paypal has partnered up with stablecoin operator Paxos (who is already in partnership with Revolut in the US) to facilitate trading through a cryptocurrency brokerage which will enable other firms to integrate cryptocurrency trading functionalities with them. In my opinion this looks much more promising than the Libra association they pulled out from last October as regulations. Grayscale Investments clears regulatory hurdle as they have been given the green light for its Bitcoin Cash Trust (BCHG) and Litecoin Trust (LTCN) to be quoted in over-the-counter (OTC) markets by US Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). “The Trusts are open-ended trusts sponsored by Grayscale and are intended to enable exposure to the price movement of the Trusts’ underlying assets through a traditional investment vehicle, avoiding the challenges of buying, storing, and safekeeping digital Bitcoin Cash or Litecoin directly.” More green lights for Cryptocurrency in the US as regulators allow banks to provide cryptocurrency custody services (which may go further than just custody services). A little bit strange as it seems unnecessary and undermines one of the key factors and uses of cryptocurrency which is to be in complete control of your own finances... On another outlook this may be bullish as it allows US banks to provide banking services directly to lawful cryptocurrency businesses and show support for Bitcoin. Visa shows support stating they have a roadmap for their further expansion into the Crypto sphere. Already working with Crypto platform Coinbase and Fold they have stated they recognise the role of digital assets in the future of money. To be frank, it appears to be focused on stable coins, cost effectiveness and transaction speeds. However they are expanding their support for crypto assets. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, DeFI! Our very own growing section in crypto. Just like the 2017 ICO boom we are seeing exorbitant growth and FOMO into the Decentralised Finance sector (WBTC, Stablecoins, Yield farming, DEXs etc). The amount of active addresses on Ethereum has doubled but with the FOMO on their network have sky rocketed their fees! Large use-cases of stable coins such as USDT ($6B in circulation using ERC-20 standard), DAI, TUSD, and PAX. $114M Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) on their network acts as a fluid side chain for Bitcoin and DEX trade volume has touched $1.6B this month. With all this action happening on Ethereum I saw the 24HR volume surpass BTC briefly on Worldcoinindex.com In other news, Bitcoin has been set as a new precedent in a US federal court in a case against Larry Dean Harmon, the operator of an underground trading platform Helix. Bitcoin has now legally been ruled as a form of money. “After examination of the relevant statutes, case law, and other sources, the Court concludes that bitcoin is money under the MTA and that Helix, as described in the indictment, was an `unlicensed money transmitting business´ under applicable federal law.” Quick news in China/Asia as floods threaten miners and the most dominant ASIC Bitcoin mining rig manufacturer Bitmain loses 10,000 Antminers worth millions alledgedly goes missing or "illegally transfered" with ongoing leadership dispute between cofounders. Last but not least, Cardano (ADA) upgrade Shelley is ready to launch! Hardfork is initiated as final countdown clock is switched on. At time of writing the point of no return has been reached, stress tests done and confirmation Hardfork is coming 29/07 The Shelley Mainnet upgrade is a step toward fast, capable and decentralised crypto that can serve billions of people. P.S. Dr Seuss collectables on the blockchain HECK YEAH! and Bitcoin enters NASCAR, remember when Doge did this? it was like when Doge was trending on TikTok. ... Oh yeah did I also mention Steve Wozniak is suing Youtube, Google over rampant Bitcoin scams. Wait, what? Sydney based law firm JPB Liberty is suing Google, Facebook and Twitter for up to $300B. Just another day in the Cryptosphere.
For Trading JULY 28th DKNG FALTERS “NEW ALL-TIME HIGH FOR GOLD” BITCOIN RALLIES Our NEM spread is still cruising Today’s market got off to a mixed start NASDAQ higher and a somewhat subdued start for the DJIA and S&P-500, but the others caught up quickly and all rallied into the close with the DJIA +114.88 (.43%), NASDAQ +173.09 (1.67%), S&P 500 +23.78 (.74%), the Russell +17.10 (1.17%) and the DJ Transports +87.30 (.90%). Tonight’s closing comment video https://youtu.be/FDZWwDnw7qM Our discord channel link is in the video description SECTORS: DraftKings (DKNG) really took it on the chin today as several baseball teams had players that tested positive for COVID-19. I was 23 and had it all! A great job, had purchased my mother a house and was on the mortgage, a girlfriend of 2 years, we were saving for a house and on the verge of getting engaged. Then my addiction kicked in. I don't know what triggered it, it just happened. Started small and gradually got worse. It all started with sports betting, I'd occasionally bet on the football just for fun the odd accumulator here and there. In my role at the time gambling was a huge part of the culture, so many of the guys were doing it. Have a feeling this may be what contributed to my problem. Addiction 1 - Sports Betting Anyway, it escalated from football onto tennis. I was literally betting on who was going to win the next serve or game! This is what got me hooked. One night I managed to turn £200 into £1,500... and proceeded to lose the lot the very next morning. Just didn't know when to stop! This got worse and worse, and I ended up betting in excess of £100 per point. In the end I had this feeling the games were fixed! There was a pattern where the favourite would lose the first game, be on the verge of losing the second or third and then all of a sudden make a sudden comeback and win when the odds were all against them. It was a game involving John Isner. I'll never forget it, at the time I was about £7k in debt, with £1.5k in my betting account. John Isner was on the verge of losing, but he was breaking every serve in the match at odds of 7/1. I started betting on him breaking the serve, turned £1.5k into over £12k... I was over the moon. Withdrew £11k, left £1k in the account and thought I was clear. This was not the end. I lost and proceeded to eat into the £11k. From that point onwards I was well and truly addicted, 11 months later I had a mental breakdown in front of my girlfriend and parents. £40k in debt but promising to them I would get out and change my life. Soon after the UK released a scheme that would allow you to self exclude from every gambling website, this successfully curbed my addiction, although I did still have a few relapses. 17 months later, November 2017. I finally had my first month's wages, I was debt free and life seemed to be back to normal. My girlfriend had stuck by me and we were starting to look for a house! Addiction 2 - Cryptocurrency All was great except one of my friends mentioned to me to buy some bitcoin it was going to boom. So in the first month I researched bitcoin like crazy... having first heard about it in 2013 I felt I simply couldn't miss out on this opportunity. I stumbled across altcoins and decided to invest in Tron. £1k, turned into £5k in under a month. My addiction triggered all over again. Bitcoin proceeded to rise to £20k from £10k, the market was bullish. Then the bitcoin crash happened and over the proceeding months it fell to £3k. During that time I was made aware of a platform called 'Bitmex'. Whereby I could leverage my original investment by upto 100x. This is what ruined my life, at one point I had three bitcoins in the account and again within two weeks they were all gone! Fastforward 9 months, September 2018. My girlfriend and I were scheduled to fly to the Chicago to drive route 66 from start to finish. I broke down again, this time in £20k worth of debt, I simply couldn't handle it. This time around my girlfriend left me, I understand and had been expecting it... who would want to waste their life with an addict that simply didn't seem to want to help himself? My parents were on the verge of disowning me, this was what I thought was going to be my lowest. My parents decided to help me, they took control of my finances. Got new loans out to pay for the mess I had created, and this is the part that kills me. I betrayed my own parents in order to continue with my addiction. At the end of it all upto £50k in debt, all thanks to Bitmex. It killed me, I couldn't self exclude and the company simply refused to do anything about it. I felt helpless to this brain draining addiction. No idea how but I kicked the habit over time. In March 2019 I moved out of the family home I helped to purchase and moved 5 hours north for a new job, in a new town. We had a plan, I was throwing every single penny I had at the debt. It was slowly going down and I was happy! Addiction 3 - stocks and shares At this point I had my own allowance to live on. Instead of living a normal life I saved every penny, lived off the cheapest of microwave meals and was putting everything into my share portfolio. I was investing in cryptocurrency with low leverge and doing well, this is what I knew! Then, news broke that Thomas Cook was going bust. I thought that there's no way the government would let such a large company go into administration. I had a friend that worked there in the accounts department, decided to reach out to him. He gave me information that the company was set to be recovered and they had nothing to worry about. I invested at the lowest of prices! HE WAS WRONG. I proceeeded to lose my entire portfolio on this one mistake. For over 6 months I had put everything into this portfolio which amassed to just over £6k. September 2019. This crippled me, I was addicted again. I proceeded to take out loans and max credit cards in order to get my portfolio back. I then decided to short WHSmith as it was at it's all time high. It rose and rose, I closed my position losing over £3k. This was over the course of three months and in that time I got a new job and moved home. Christmas once again, can't buy my family presents as I've no money. Life sucked, I didn't know what to do - there was nothing I could do! Fastforward to March 2020. I'm now in £37k worth of debt, my parents know about £31k of it. Coronavirus is really starting to affect the world. Little did I know it would rock the stock market so much. I discovered oil, a reasonable price of $32. It had just crashed from $50. I thought surely it can't go any lower. It could... I lost my entire portfolio, then took out my final £4k loan. Proceeded to lose the lot in oil. By this time oil was priced as low as $7. I scrambled to throw my last £100 at the account. It bounced right as I bought at around $8. Upto $16... all the way up I kept closing and reopening. Within 8/9 hours my account had a balance of £24k. Yes!! I could pay off all of my hidden debt, give my Mum £10k to pay off that and I'd be left in debt of circa £20k. I withdrew £2.5k and left the balance ready to withdraw the next day. The next morning I went to work. Normal as can be, nothing invested just £20k sitting there. I made the mistake of investing more in oil. I got greedy! £15k... £21k... £15k... £10k... £4.8k... £6k... £3k... £2.2k... gone. Just like that, the entire balance gone. I was devastated. My last £2.5k in the bank, deposited... gone. Wages, deposited... gone. Sold my laptop, deposited... gone. Addiction is real the worst thing you can do is to make a big gain... what follows is often devastating and life destroying. I'm now in £42k worth of debt. Have admitted everything to my parents and am now working my way out of this mess. I will work towards a risk free life, a life where I'm not part of any get rich quick schemes. A life where I just work hard, live normally and love myself for who I am. I've lost money, a partner and a lot of sleep over the last few years. There's one thing I'll never get back, TIME. I'm now on a journey to find myself, kick these awful habits and get my life back on track. I'm now 26, have 17 months left of my debt sentence and this has been my three year hell.
Jon-Chan and the Summit of Mount Dewnali: The Two Betrayals
As dawn broke, the Neckbeardians woke In the arid Chadlands were they had rest, to see crags and hills that they must crest To face the chads, normies and stacys too, their enemies numerous whilst they are a few All these threats to find their MOM, for her tendies were the bomb The expedition has grown worn under the scorching sky, their angst at an all time high "Hey Joey could you walk a lil faster?" asked Hunter "The crags don't offer much room to get around you." "Sorry bud, I just gotta jot a few things down real quick." The neckbeardians were travelling single file through the jagged crags of Mount Deadlift, safe away from its steep mountainside. Still, the jagged rocks offered very little room to maneuver, some of the neckbeardians had their rucksack caught on jutting stone or sparse, tough vegetation that managed to survive and grow within the crags. "Bro, c'mon you can write your lame ass poems later your holding up the line" complained a visibly pissed off Hunter. Joey turned his back towards Hunter, only to find several of the Beards exhausted and barely holding formation "I'ma say X to doubt bud, besides whats your hurry anyway?" "I ain't in no hurry fuck you!" "Right back at you bud" Joey replied without looking back. "You realize I'm a minor right?" "Oh! Do you mine coal or Bitcoin?" "Quit playin asshat!" Hunter then proceeds to adjust his step, so that he can stomp on the back of Joeys boots with every step. After several blows to his heel, Joey performed a 180 faster than an Nice GuysTM attitude after getting rejected. "Alright listen you little shit-" "Is there a problem gentlemen?" Hunter look up past Joey, who also frantically turned around to discover Incelliot Rodger looming over them. "Your outrageous barking and whining could alert our presence to the enemy. I would prefer you fools to be quiet, rather than to attract Chad and his whorish hordes." Incelliot looks towards the piece of parchment and pen that are in Joeys hands. "Is this really worth the fuss?" "Well, maybe not the trouble, but I sure wouldn't say its worthless." Joey replied "A poem can be a wonderful short retelling of our deeds and how we felt, wouldn't you agree?" Incelliot didn't say a word. Instead he grabbed the parchment and proceeded to tear it into several pieces, discarding it into the dirt. "Now you have nothing, thus you have nothing to cry about". Incelliot turned around to follow the path. "Also, poems are for betas..." Joey was particularly disheartened, his long nose became a pathway for a single tear as the worlds tiniest violin played. A sympathetic Hunter then patted his annalist friend on the back "Wow, what a dickhead". Jon-Chan and forward element of neckbeards were perched and laying prone on the edge of a cliffside, scouting the valley below. Several, treacherous mountain ranges walled off the arid, flatland at the belly of the valley. Through their binoculars the neckbeardians could see sparse vegetation and trees, which isn't enough cover from the scorching rays of the sun or the watchful Chadian eyes. The scouts were bored out of their minds, as they saw nothing in the valley below. One neckbeardian with a greasy ginger neckscruff and an ahegao hoodie (We'll call him...pervbeard) was so bored that he decided to piss in an empty bottled of water and stored it in his hoodie. The bastard reeked of ammonia and hot cheese, the stench cause the other two scouts to recoil and vomit. Jon-Chan, set down his binoculars to scratch his ass, finding satisfaction in his search and with the disappearance of the itch on his left ass cheek. "Alright, the coast looks clear. Lets tell everyone that were heading down there". "Uh Jon I'm not sure going down right now would be a smart idea...we could get spotted by a patrol". said Pervbeard. "What are you pervbeard, is you a bitch or what? afraid of a few chads?" Jon-Chan decided now would be a good time to put Incelliots lessons to the test. He had to show he was a conqueror. "N-no Jon-Chan I just don't think we should take any needless risk" Pervbeard stammered. "If your so afraid of a little risk, then I suggest you tuck tail and go to the back of the marching order! Coward!". Jon-Chan gave Pervbeard an educational slap across the forehead. As pervbeard stood up and fled from the belligerent CWC-born, the two other scouts watched with worry. However, their gazes were averted as Jon-Chan turned towards them yelling at them to get back to their survey. Jon-Chan felt as if he had more control, more options than he did before. Smacking that scout was refreshing, cathartic. He felt as if so much angst had just disappeared in the moment, when he bruised the neckbeardians head. However, after the slap he felt even more anxious that those others had noticed him. It did feel good to remind them who the CWC-born was. He looked forward to the next time he could put someone in their place. Incelliot approached shortly after Pervbeard departed "Excellent Jonathon, you showed that cuck what a true gentleman is. For a true gentleman isn't to be questioned be his lessers." "Yeah he was a cuck isn't he?" Jon-Chan replied skiddishly. "I suppose we shall be going through the valley? Good, that way we won't have to traverse the crags or the mountain side, we could get to Dewtonia quicker this way as well." After an hour of resting in the cramped crags and on the cliffs edge, the neckbeardians descended from the cliff side and into the valley below. Upon their arrival the expedition extended themselves immediately, eager to distance themselves from one another and their foul stenches. Jonathon went to rest under a small tree that was barely taller than himself. Upon nearing the tree, he notice that near the top of the tree grow a rather cumbersome looking black fruit. He circled around the tree to find that odd and large onyx fruits were mare plastic than organic and had the label "Whey" stenciled into them. "That must be a Whey Tree" said an awestruck Joey "The Chads would migrate for hundreds of miles just to mix and consume the smallest teaspoon of protein power in these things". "Blegh, just a stupid tree. I bet it taste like ass." Joey was a little puzzled, but then smirked saying "Are you talking about the tree itself or the" Jon-Chan sighed at Joey pitiful jokes and was about to make a comment until he was interrupted by a certain gentleman. "Alright Jonathon, enough time has been wasted. We must move on" demanded Incelliot. "Wait just a darn tootin minute Rodgers!" Joey objected. "Ah, the scroll boy who couldn't move faster than a tortoise, is now approaching me with the speed of a train. Finally you have some pep in your step." Incelliot crossed his arms, his face becoming more smug than Pepe. "Shuddup you jackass! We shouldn't be moving in the open during the day! We're too exposed and we'll likely be dead before we reach Hentaiopolis!" "Some of you may die, but that is a sacrifice that I-... I, you, and everyone else should take. After all, how will you feed the people of Basementia, your loved ones? Or will you let them perish because they lacked the necessary tendies to survive." "Its likely that none of us will survive if we get ambushed by even one Chad!" Joey hissed, whilst slamming his left fist into his open right hand. "Jon-Chan we can't go do this, we should wait till dark when they can't see us. Please listen to me!" "NO! NO! NO!" shouted the virgin with rage. "We stick to the plan, we can't just puss out whenever we FEEL scared. Quit being a cuck!". "Jon-Chan don't be dumb" said Hunter "We really shouldn't take any risk to get to Dewtonia, we have plenty of time before-". Jon-Chan slapped a Whey Protein fruit from the tree directly into Hunter. Upon impact the plastic fruit shattered and a thick cloud of chocolate protein powder covered the two neckbeardians. "STOP TRIVIALIZING EVERYTHING I SAY YOU TROLL! STOP ATTACKING ME!" The whole expedition had their attention towards the incident. It was uncertain as to whether Hunter was crying due to the intense exposure to the protein powder or due to Jons outburst. Jon could see everyone, Joey, Damien, Rebecca, Spearbeard, Thirstbeard, and the rest of his brothers in arms casted gazed of discontent at him. "You know what Jonathon, the night we fought against those Karens was the night I began to think of you as someone truly special" admitted Joey "You were able let yourself become inviting, vulnerable, and to some extent you cared about your fellow man. But I see that it was a fluke. Your just like all the other people back in Basementia, you could care less about those around you. You just want your tendies, your waifus, and whatever else you can get out of this mission! Its especially evident, now that you are disregarding our safety to finish this as quickly as you can." Joey's face became redder and redder than a beet, with tears dripping down his face. "Fuck you Jon-Chan!". Jonathon was irate at his loss of controlled. He thought to charge and pummel the Annalist for his disrespect. That was until Spearbeard toppled backwards and spazzed out like an upside-down cockroach on cocaine. The neckbeards looked around and darted for cover in the sparse foliage. Jon-Chan, Joey, and Incelliot took cover behind a rock next to the incapacitated spearbeard, only to find a syringe with fin stabilizers embedded into spearbeards chest. "Holy shit, its a steroid syringe! Theres a Chad sniper out there!" shouted Thirstbeard. Out from the crags behind the Neckbeardians came a series of war cries screaming "BRUUUUUUH!!!!!111111". Several hundred marauding Chads and normies poured out of the crags and from the mountains. You can literally smell the axe body spray as they made their descent. One Chad was using a normie as a makeshift snowboard to descend down the mountain, the normie took selfies of himself as human sports equipment just to tag Chad in his Instagram post. "Shit what are we gonna do Incelliot!" Jon-Chan asked, only to find Incelliot wasn't next to him, but running away in the opposite direction of the crags. "RUN!" As the expedition ran, hundreds of steroid syringes and dodge balls rained down upon them from the mountain, striking several of the neckbeardians, killing them instantly. "Remember" Joey started to say "Always move in a serpentine pattern!" Some of the neckbeardians did move in a serpentine, only to stumble into one another and be left behind to be annihilated by the chads. "Oops, didn't mean for that to happen". After a minute of running, the barrage stopped. Jon-Chan turned his head back towards the crags, only to discover several dozen Chads and normies gaining on them. Pervbeard was the slowest of the herd. He was tackled by an alpha chad wearing a tap-out shirt and shades. Pervbeard managed to give the Chad a swift punch to the dick, yet Chads Magnum dong was as hard as titanium, which crushed pervbeards hand on impact. In a last ditch effort, Pervbeard pulled out his piss jug from his ahegao shirt and performed Naruto Hand movements, despite his broken hand. The piss jug shook and seconds later erupted in a molten hot fragmentation of urine and plastic, consuming the chad and several approaching normies, ending the lives of all caught in the golden blast. The Chads were rapidly gaining on the neckbeardians. Those who were lagging stood their ground to fight the Chads, slowing down their advance for their friends to escape. Yet, one by one neckbeardians were dropping like a simps bank account. After several minutes of running through the valley, Jon-Chan and a cluster of neckbeardians reach the crags on the other side, taking cover within the natural fortification. Jon looked around to find Joey, Hunter, thirstbeard, and Incelliot in his presence. He found no sign of any of the others such as Damien or Rebecca in their midst. Perhaps they had fallen to the Chads. "We gotta get outta here!" yelled a terrified thirstbeard. "That horde is just going to hound our ass to wherever we mosey onto!" exclaimed Joey. "No...not us" Incelliot said "Him" Incelliot was pointing his fingers at Hunter, who was covered from head to toe in Whey protein powder. "They can track his scent; The Chads lust for protein" "I can just wash it off!" stammered Hunter, who was already pouring some of his water on the protein powder. The Whey powder coagulated into a semi-solid matter, that stick to the arm and cloak of Hunter. Hunter desperately tried to lick it off, only to discover it foul taste. That Whey fruit was ripe. "I-I-I can't get it off! Oh no!" "Its okay bud, we'll try another way" Joey said, trying to calm his friends nerves. "There's no time, we must leave the boy behind" Incelliot said, drawing his sword. "WHAT IN TARNATION! Incelliot I know we don't see eye to eye, but that has to be the most cutthroat thing for even the likes of your self!" Joey then drew a blade as well, directing it towards the Supreme Gentleman. "We don't leave our own behind, what kind of world do you live in!?" Thirstbeard then drew his Katana, raising it in the air, charging at Saint Rodgers with the speed of ten Lightning McQueens. As Thirstbeard neared his opponent, he let out a "TENNO HENTAI! BANZAI!" only to be silence and to be halved be Incelliots own blade. Incelliot then slashed at Joeys legs, incapacitating the Annallist. Hunter drew a dagger and stabbed the Incel in the chest, right before being cut down by Incelliots sword. "No- Hunter, Jon-Chan help!" beckoned a weak, bleeding Joey. However, Jon-Chan was frozen, uncertain of what he ought to do. Incelliot walked in a determined, heavy stride towards Joey and pointed his weapon towards the poor neckbeards face "Welcome to my twisted world". Joey's breathing seized after the sword was lodged right into his breast, ending the Annalist life. Incelliot then dug into the Annalist rucksack, removing a map to Dewtonia. "You won't be needing this" Incelliot then turned to Jon-Chan, who was clutching his Sonichu Medallion, staring at the man who killed his friend. I do hope your intent was to not kill me with that. If so, prepare to be disappointed" "You killed them; You killed my friends!" "The very same friends who were just about to mutiny and leave your side" retorted the armored incel, chuckling maniacally "You were better off without them slowing you down" Incelliot steadily approached Jon-Chan, his eyes focused upon those of the CWC-born. "Together we can find MOM, return to Basementia and wage a war against these monsters. Their 'sacrifices' will not be in vain, my friend. We restore neckbeardia and the Incels to their rightful place!" "I-I can't, not like this Incelliot" Jon-Chan tried to back away, only to find his retreat to be shadowed by Incelliots advances. "Well, if that is the case. Remember, that the foolish and indecisive will be left behind by history." Jon-Chan ducked and rolled past Incelliot, grabbing thirstbeards Katana after landing on his feet. As Incelliot charged, Jon-Chan propelled himself towards his enemy like a coiled spring, using his masters training and techniques against him. Incelliots slowly retreated, reacting swiftly to Jon-Chans furious blows. The two were engaging in a fluid and furious dance of sweat, blood, and steel. The two duelist eventually made their way towards the edge of the crags, overlooking another valley in the Deadlift Mountain range. Jon-Chan managed to land a blow on incelliots armor, causing the incel saint to stumble backwards like a giraffe that was totally plastered on whiskey mixers. This little blow encouraged a daring Jon-Chan to redirect his Katana for an overhead slash. After quick spin to gain the momentum necessary, his final turn ended in agony, his body trembling from an intense pain. He looked down to his abdomen to find a sword lodged six inches deep into his flesh; Blood was trickling out of the wounds like a broken dam. He was tricked, bamboozled, and now he was defeated. "So long old friend" Incelliot gave his farewell and proceeded to lift his left leg. As he launched his foot into Jon-Chan, the CWC-born grabbed Incelliots leg and swung him over the edge, but not without Incelliot having established a gorilla grip on Jon-Chans Sonichu medallion; His strength yanked the medallion out of Jons neck, yet the force was significant enough to pull Jon-Chan with him. The two then proceeded to plummet to the earth below. The battered, bloody Jonathon Easton Chandler managed to crawl to a small crevice after his long fall. He could hardly see out of either of his eye, as they too were drenched in a sea of red. He could only crawl like a blind, limp mole to what seemed to be safety. Unfortunately, his resting place was found to be uncomfortable, as he had nary the strength or the help of his friends to prop him up. This left the wounded warrior laying on the ground, struggling to breath, focusing half of his concentration on manual breathing. He wondered if he had acted quickly, his friends would not have been cut down. He knew that he could have done something, he was to pick sides. Jon-Chans breathing became more faint as time went on. He had continue his struggle to breath for what seemed to be an hour. Time was not easily determined when your sight and much of your feeling and bones were disabled. There was no going home, there would be no tendies or friends and loved one to welcome him or even now to give him a proper farewell. At least he would die knowing he took out one evil in the world. His vision faded, his sense of touch grew numb, then there was silence. "Yo come on bro! Gave me the fucking Pads dude!" "Yo sorry man, Defibs right here" "Clear this shitz ma guy" Jon-Chan re-emerged from his silence, with his body full of electric life. "Holy shit, I'm alive" he thought. His vision returned to normal and for the first time since his 'demise', Jon-Chan was witness to a fearsome sight revealed in the bright lights from above. Looming over the bench press table converted operating table was a 6'1" demi-god with blonde hair shaped like an anvil. The muscles on this remarkable specimen bulged and pulsated with every inhale. And speaking of bulge, it was very noticeable. The beings wore green sweat pants and a red A-shirt, with the word "OUCH! " drawn with chalk. But probably the most fearsome thing was its eyes, a deep blue sea of infinity and uncertain was forcing its way into Jon-Chans soul. "Hey man, you gonna be okay, just fucking breath my guy. Its been a hot minute." said, or rather shouted the demi-god. "I need you in tip-top shape bro, I still gotta take you to yo MOM." Jon-Chan was astonished. There was a Chad right in front of him and he hadn't even killed him. "Holy shit!" mouthed Jon-Chan, who was unable to even get the words out. "BRO, BRO! RELAX! You two are in good hands now man" said the Chad. "I ain't gonna hurt you, now whats your name man" "Ma name is a-uh-Jon" Jon-Chan was confused by "You two" he looked to the operating table to his right anticipating Incelliot to rest on the table, but was relieved to find Hunter, breathing and alive. He was glad to find one of his friends to have survived. "Jon?" The Chadritch Horror repeated his answer "Figured you'd have a dorkier name like Ezekiel or Damien, but Jon's cool". There was an awkward silence that hung in the air; Well, it was awkward for Jon-Chan, but the Chad didn't seem unnerved by the quiet at all, almost like it had a lot on its mind in that particular moment. "Okay bro, We probably shouldn't be doing this but I made a promise to MOM if any of you guys were to return, to take you to her ASAP!" As he said that, a young man wearing wiry frame glasses and a brown and tan rugby shirt, quite similar to Jon-Chans red and blue Classic approached from the darkness behind Hunters table. The young man had an innocent smile and an old-fashioned classical guitar in hand. "Who-who are you?" asked the CWC-Born. "The names Chad ThunderCock and this is my bard and faithful friend, Isiah Brandon Anderson. Were here to take you to MOM. You are coming home bro." Alright you guys, This is the second to last installment of Jon-Chan and the Summit of Mount Dewnali. I will post the final chapter tomorrow, the day before I leave for work. I've been having a lot of fun writing this for you guys and I hope you enjoyed this. Stay alert for the next post and peace out, i'mma get sloshed tonight on whiskey mixers and Smirnoff with the boyz.
Ourfirst postgave a short summary of our tokens’ functionality. This post is intended to give more background and reasoning for design decisions. Note: This post is out of date. Please seeThe Many Faces of an $OWLblog post for the latest on OWL use cases. Background One of Bitcoin’s critical innovations was the addition of an incentive model to a peer-to-peer network protocol. Using a native currency and Proof of Work dispersion mechanism, Bitcoin rewards its workers and makes it incentive compatible for disparate parties to work together toward a common goal. In addition, using a native currency allows for protocol monetization. With SMTP for example, most work is done on the protocol layer, however all value is created on the application layer. The rapidly evolving world of cryptocurrencies has wasted no time in innovating this concept into a variety of “app” or “protocol” token models. In the initial “altcoin” stage of these models, tokens are dispensed similarly to Bitcoin and there is no unique utility within the network for these tokens. More recently, protocols with unique applications have iterated on this design with new dispersion mechanisms and uses for the coins within the protocol itself. Gnosis will follow this approach, hopefully with a few successful innovations of our own. Building a sustainable ecosystem for token holders, participants, and application developers on a platform level cryptoeconomic system is difficult to achieve. Smart contracts are only as valuable as people’s trust in their verifiable execution. In order to achieve this trust, the code almost always needs to be made open source. Even if not made immediately open source, once deployed to the Ethereum network the bytecode can potentially be read and decompiled. Once this code is open source, it can be easily replicated and deployed with its own incentive model. Herein lies the dilemma: what incentivizes new participants to use the existing network, rather than copy the code and remove the fees (or set their own fees)? The developing answer to this problem is network effect. We use Bitcoin and Ethereum, rather than forks of these protocols, due to the benefits provided by interoperability with other applications, services, and participants on the network. This argument extends beyond cryptoeconomics to markets and money in general. Money and markets become more useful and competitive as more people use them. eBay charges an inordinate amount of fees, however buyers and sellers still use it due to the critical mass on the platform. This network effect enables buyers to connect to sellers and vice versa for specialized products. While network effect serves as a fundamental component driving Gnosis platform use, we believe that it’s important to take this a step further. The Gnosis platform will be composed of three primary layers: Core, Services, and Application. The Gnosis Layers https://preview.redd.it/yblr0t76n7a51.png?width=700&format=png&auto=webp&s=d42a14c0e692ba55ee7cfbcff183c84649816dac Layer One: Gnosis Core The Core layer provides the foundational smart contracts for Gnosis use: event token creation and settlement, a market mechanism, oracle, and a management interface. This layer is and always will be free and open to use. Creating new markets is near zero marginal cost, and to remain competitive fees will have to approach zero. Instead of grasping at the maximum possible fees while remaining competitive, we feel that it is prudent to eliminate fees at the most basic contract level. It should be in every party’s best interest to use the existing open source and feeless contracts instead of deploying their own version. Layer Two: Gnosis Services The Gnosis Services layer will offer additional services on top of Gnosis Core and will use a trading fee model. These services will include a state channel implementation, new market mechanisms, stablecoin and payment processor integrations, open source template applications, application customization tools, and the oracle marketplace. More features may be introduced as deemed useful. These components are necessary for most consumer applications building on Gnosis. State channels are a prerequisite for betting and financial applications requiring thousands or more transactions per second. Without stablecoins, market participants are subject to the volatility of the cryptocurrency which the market is denominated in and the event outcome that they are predicting. Application templates, customization tools, and advanced oracle selection will allow us to execute on our vision of lowering the barrier to entry for new prediction market based applications by at least two orders of magnitude. While some applications and participants will interact with Gnosis on the Core level, we are confident that these services will provide a compelling reason for Services level use. Layer Three: Gnosis Applications On top of the Services layer (or in some cases, just Gnosis Core) is the Gnosis application layer. These applications are primarily front-ends that target a particular prediction market use case and or customer segment. Some of these applications may be built by Gnosis, while others will be built by third parties. Our vision for Gnosis is to have a wide variety of prediction market applications built atop the same platform and liquidity pool. These applications will likely charge additional fees or use alternative business models such as market making, information selling, or advertising. As we’ll see in the next section on tokens, many Gnosis applications may include token holding as a core component of their business model. Introducing the Tokens of the Realm: GNO and OWL The token sold during the token launch is known as the Gnosis Token, or GNO. This is the only time that these tokens can be created, and therefore the total supply of GNO is fixed. Fees, similar to those of a trading market, will be charged to participants on the Gnosis Services and Applications layers (but as a reminder, not the bare bones Core layer). These fees will initially be denominated in cryptocurrency, namely BTC or ETH. Gnosis seeks to not only create interesting software, but also a community of those interested in sharing their wisdom on Gnosis markets. To do this, we needed to create a model that lowers the barrier to entry for repeat users (e.g. having to pay BTC/ETH repeatedly). Therefore, in addition to paying this fee in BTC or ETH, Gnosis ecosystem participants will be able to pay the fee in OWL tokens. Gnosis OWL can be used to pay platform fees on the Services layer, subsidize the fees of other participants, provide initial subsidies for markets, or for market trading. OWL will be pegged to $1 USD worth of fees. In this way, OWL acts as a coupon for $1 of use within Gnosis. Gnosis tokens (GNO) are the generator for OWL creation. OWL can only be created via activating the utility of the Gnosis (GNO) tokens. This is done via a smart contract system. The smart contract works as follows: GNO token holders agree to “lock” their tokens in a smart contract (30–365 days). A multiplier is added for longer lock durations. The smart contract determines the user selected lock duration and applies that duration to a formula that is designed to regulate the supply of OWL tokens currently in use. Prior to locking their GNO tokens in the smart contract, users will be able to see exactly how much OWL they will receive as a result of executing the smart contract. Once users execute the contract, 30% of their OWL will be distributed for immediate use, and the remaining 70% will be distributed proportionally over the locked duration. Once the lock duration expires, the locked GNO ceases to generate OWL and the GNO becomes freely transferable by the holder. There is no limit (other than duration) for how many times GNO tokens may be used to create OWL. How Can Gnosis Remain Viable if Participants Choose Not to Pay in OWL? A core value proposition of Gnosis (and decentralization) is to guarantee future characteristics of platforms to both users and developers without relying on the trustworthiness of an operating company. In order to do this, elements including fee rates, must be codified into the software itself. It is expected that OWL will be the overwhelmingly predominant method for paying fees in the Gnosis ecosystem. In the unexpected event that this is not true, and users are paying in BTC or ETH, the platform may become vulnerable to low-fee copycats or potentially even illegal forks of the Gnosis codebase. These alternative platforms may logically cause erosion of the Gnosis userbase, subsequently triggering justified loss of developer confidence that their created markets and applications will remain viable on Gnosis. In order to avoid this scenario, we designed a fee-reduction mechanism to bolster competitiveness of the Gnosis platform. The result is added confidence for developers and partners that Gnosis is the infrastructure they should be building markets on. NOTE: It is unlikely that this mechanism will be used as game theory and expectations point to users predominantly paying fees in OWL. In the event this mechanism is triggered, we expect the occurrence to be extremely rare. Two core requirements for the mechanism is that it is both decentralized and costly. The mechanism must be costly in order to eliminate spam or manipulation. The core functionality of the mechanism is as follows: All fees paid in BTC/ETH/Tokens go to an auction contract outside the control of the Gnosis team. If fees exist in the auction contract, any GNO token holder can submit a bid, bidding their held GNO against some amount of fees contained in the auction contract. If the bid is accepted, the GNO will then enter the auction contract and the user will receive the fees specified. When the user’s GNO enters the auction contract, the fee reduction mechanism will be triggered causing a reduction in fees on Gnosis proportional to the total amount of GNO held in this auction contract. The auction contract is one-way and GNO cannot leave this wallet. https://preview.redd.it/pi8hphw9n7a51.png?width=700&format=png&auto=webp&s=3f083a291992e83b486630f5a848e09ca977569e Examples of GNO and OWL Utility Let’s take a look at several example uses for OWL:
Alice is a Gnosis user who also holds GNO tokens. She locks down a portion of her Gnosis tokens for a year period. Every day she receives some OWL tokens. She uses these OWL tokens to pay her trading fees.
BobBets seeks to build a sports betting application on Gnosis. BobBets purchases Gnosis tokens during the token launch. BobBets locks these tokens to create OWL. When BobBets creates markets, they also deposit a portion of OWL to the market to subsidize fees for their users.
Claire likes to ask interesting questions. Markets on Gnosis must be provided with an initial subsidy to create shares. Claire funds these markets using OWL, and the platform matches (to a certain level) her OWL! Claire gets better answers to her questions because there is larger incentive for participants to provide insights.
Conclusion We believe our dual token and Core/Services model is optimal to encourage adoption of the Gnosis platform. Adoption should be everyone’s number one goal toward the success of Gnosis as it both increases liquidity (leading to better odds, and encouraging a feedback loop leading to more reliable predictions) and awareness. By having the Gnosis Core layer fee free and with a pay once model by purchasing GNO for the Gnosis Services and Application layers, we can remain incentive compatible for all participants in the system. IMPORTANT INFORMATIONGNO tokens are functional utility tokens within the Gnosis platform. GNO tokens are not securities. GNO tokens are non-refundable. GNO tokens are not for speculative investment. No promises of future performance or value are or will be made with respect to GNO, including no promise of inherent value, no promise of continuing payments, and no guarantee that GNO will hold any particular value. GNO tokens are not participation in the Company and GNO tokens hold no rights in said company. GNO tokens are sold as a functional good and all proceeds received by Company may be spent freely by Company absent any conditions. GNO tokens are intended for experts in dealing with cryptographic tokens and blockchain-based software systems.
